One of the rewards of Kim’s position has been to help students develop family ministry programs for Korean churches, which are vital to healthy church growth. She teaches and leads workshops in Korea as well as in the United States. A former clinical social work professor at Ewha Women’s University, Kim is a member and approved supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and a former member of the American Family Therapy Academy. Her publications include The Korean Church and Family Ministry (2007), Development of Family Therapy in Korea (1994), Korean Families and Family Therapy (1987), and over 80 articles, including “Understanding Asian Americans: Problems and Possibilities for Cross-Cultural Counseling,” in the Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in Social Work (2003), and “Guidelines and Strategies for Cross-Cultural Counseling with Korean American Clients,” in A Quarterly Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development (2005).
