Biography
Dr. Young Ok Kim was born and grew up in South Korea. Prior to coming to the USA in 2007, she
served as a missionary with Operation Mobilization (OM) in India and Siberia, as well as at the
OM Korea Headquarters for ten years.
Dr. Kim hold four masters’ degrees: Intercultural Studies, Theology, Marriage and Family
Therapy, and Clinical Psychology. She also holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. In
addition to her own missionary life experience, Dr. Kim truly believes that God trained her in
theology, missionary, and psychology in order to better provide member care for missionaries
and their families. She hopes and prays that God will use her as an instrument for holistic
healing of His wounded people. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on “Exploring the Lived
Experience of Suffering Related to Traumatic Events among Korean Missionaries: An
Interpretative Phenological Analysis.”
Currently, Dr. Kim works as a clinical psychologist and serves as a board member of Narramore
Christian Foundation (NCF) and the president of Korean American Wellness Association
(KAWA), a non-profit organization.
